Rosa Rodríguez: Using data analysis and information technologies to organize civic response after a natural disaster
After a natural disaster, people’s sudden needs often surpass the ability of governments to respond and of the media to report. When this happens, social media can provide much needed information. In this talk, I will discuss how programmers can help to verify and organize such information. I will provide examples of websites, apps, and code designed to make civic response more effective. I will mostly focus on the aftermath of the 19S earthquake in Mexico City.
